Registering for the Chipper App involves meeting certain regulatory requirements, including the submission of a valid Taxpayer Identification Number (TPIN). This aligns with Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) guidelines for verifying user identity and ensuring tax compliance across digital financial platforms.

Who Can Register for a TPIN?

Anyone who engages in economic activity in Zambia or who requires access to regulated financial services must have a TPIN. This includes:

  • Zambian Citizens (with an NRC)

  • Foreign Nationals (with a valid passport and immigration status)

  • Businesses/Companies

How to Get a TPIN (Step-by-Step)

You can search for your TPIN or register for a new one via the ZRA website. Here's how:

To Search for an Existing TPIN:

  1. Visit the ZRA website: https://www.zra.org.zm/

  2. Click the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top right corner.

  3. Go to Registrations β†’ Taxpayer Search.

  4. Enter your NRC number (for citizens) or passport number (for foreign nationals).

  5. Click Search Taxpayer.

  6. If a TPIN is registered, it will be displayed in the results.

To Register for a New TPIN:

If no TPIN is found, you'll need to register for one:

  1. Select "Get a TPIN" under the Registrations section.

  2. Choose your category:

    • Individual (Zambian Citizen)

    • Individual (Foreign National)

    • Business

  3. Fill out the application form with the required personal and contact details.

  4. Upload necessary documents.

  5. Submit the form and wait for confirmation via email or SMS.

Important Notes:

  • TPINs are free to register.

  • Keep your TPIN secure; it is used for all tax-related and financial transactions.

  • If you're facing issues during registration, visit a ZRA office or call their customer care line.
