Perps & Predict Feature FAQs

Learn about the perps & predict feature in U.S. stock trades

PERPS TRADE

What is a Perps trade?

A Perps trade allows you to take a position on whether a market price will go up or down. There is no fixed end date, so you decide when to close your position.

What do "long" and "short" mean?

Long means you expect the market price to rise, so you place a Buy/Long order.

Short means you expect the market price to fall, so you place a Sell/Short order.

What is leverage?

Leverage is a multiplier you choose before opening a trade. The required initial margin changes when you change the leverage. Leverage can magnify both gains and losses.

What is margin?

Margin is the money held for your open position. When you open a trade, the required margin is locked and deducted from your available balance. It is released when the position is closed.

Why did my balance drop after opening a trade?

The required margin for your position is locked and deducted from your available balance when the trade opens. The funds are not necessarily lost and are released when the position is closed.

What is unrealized profit or loss?

Unrealized profit or loss is the current profit or loss on a position that is still open. It updates in real time as the mark price moves.

What happens when I close a position?

The position closes completely, the realized profit or loss is applied to your wallet, and the locked margin is released.

What are Stop Loss and Take Profit?

Stop Loss and Take Profit are trigger prices set on an open position. They execute automatically when the market reaches the applicable trigger price.

Why did my trade show "Insufficient Balance"?

This means your available balance is lower than the amount required for the transaction. You may need to deposit more funds or use a smaller amount.

Why did my withdrawal show "Insufficient Balance"?

Your available balance is lower than the amount you are trying to withdraw. Some funds may also be locked as margin in an open position.

PREDICT

What is Predict?

Predict allows you to choose an answer to a real-world question. If you are correct, each winning share pays $1. If you are wrong, you lose the amount you put into the prediction.

Why do some answers pay more?

Outcomes that are less likely generally pay more if they are correct, while outcomes that are more likely generally pay less.

Why do the percentages keep changing?

The displayed percentages can change as people make their predictions and the market changes.

What can I predict on?

Available markets can include crypto Up or Down markets over 5 and 15 minutes, live esports, tennis, and soccer with a Draw option, depending on what is currently available.

How do I start using Predict?

Tap Add Funds on the Predict screen, choose an available funding source such as your USD balance, enter the amount you want to use, and confirm.

What is the most I can lose on one prediction?

The maximum amount you can lose on a single prediction is the amount you put in. For example, a $1 stake would result in a $1 loss if your prediction is wrong.

PERPS VS PREDICT

Are Perps and Predict the same?

No. "Perps" follows a market price and can use leverage, while "Predict" is based on the outcome of a specific question or event, with each winning share paying $1.

What is the main difference between Perps and Predict?

"Perps" allows you to take a Long or Short position based on market price movement. "Predict" allows you to select an outcome to a specific question or event.
