The Chipper NGN Card is a pre-funded and reloadable virtual card that can be used for domestic (within Nigeria) online payments. If you would like to make international payments, please claim a Chipper USD card - How to Claim Your Chipper Card.

The card can be used online in the same way you use your physical debit or credit cards.

💰 Fees:

  • Issuance Fee ➡ You will be charged a one-time NGN 1,000 issuance fee for the Chipper NGN Card.

  • Quarterly Maintenance Fee Charged by our Banking Partner ➡ NGN 50 (Your card balance will be charged for this fee quarterly (on a 3-month basis). If your card does not have enough funds to cover the charge for a particular quarter, that fee will be charged the next time you top up or add funds to your card)

  • NGN Card Withdrawal Fee ➡ A 5% fee is charged on all withdrawals from your Chipper NGN card to your Chipper wallet. This card withdrawal fee will also apply when the funds on your NGN card are liquidated or withdrawn to your wallet, e.g., when your NGN card is deleted.

  • Original Credit Transaction Fee ➡ 1% fee on all transactions where customers receive funds from external sources (e.g. via Visa Direct) into their Chipper NGN card balance.

What are the Chipper NGN Card Funding, Spending, and Withdrawal Limits?

Would I be charged a fee if my Chipper NGN Card gets declined due to insufficient funds?

Yes, you will be charged a non-refundable NGN 500 fee for each NGN card transaction that fails due to insufficient funds.

To avoid this fee, kindly ensure that your Chipper NGN Card is always sufficiently funded in advance to cover all your one-time and recurring (subscription) online payments.

Is my Chipper NGN Card directly connected to my Chipper Wallet?

No, your Chipper Card is not automatically tied to your Chipper Wallet in the same way your bank card service works! This means that your Chipper Card balance is different from your Chipper Wallet balance.

Your Chipper Card would need to be funded from your Chipper Wallet before it can be used.

On what platforms can I use my Chipper NGN Card?

You can spend the card online anywhere cards are accepted locally (within Nigeria). This includes merchants such as Bolt, Jumia, Konga, and so on.

However, please note that you can only use the card on merchant sites that fall under our approved/supported merchant categories. The list of supported and unsupported merchant categories may evolve over time. We reserve the right to modify the list to meet certain legal and regulatory obligations.

Once changed, you can use the new CVV as your security code for transactions on merchant sites.
