The Chipper UGX Card is a pre-funded and reloadable virtual card that can be used for both Domestic and International online payments or transactions in Uganda. The card can be funded right from the user's Chipper wallet.
The Card can be used online in the same way you use your physical debit or credit cards.
Fees
💡 The fees below will take effect on Thursday, June 6th, 2024:
Card Issuance Fee ➡ 8,000 UGX (per new card issued)
Monthly Card Maintenance Fee ➡ 8,000 UGX (per card whether active or pre-active)
Decline Fee ➡ 2,000 UGX (per decline)
Card Funding Fee ➡ 5% of the funding amount
Card Withdrawal Fee (From Card to Wallet) ➡ 2% of the transaction value
Card Withdrawal Fee (Funds received via Visa Direct) ➡ 10% of the transaction value
International Transaction Fee ➡ 5% of the transaction value
Domestic Transaction Fee ➡ 2% of the transaction value
💡 The monthly maintenance fee applies to all cards that are not expired, including both active and precative cards. This fee is charged and collected each calendar month.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my Chipper UGX Card directly connected to my Chipper Wallet?
No, your Chipper UGX Card is not automatically tied to your Chipper Wallet in the same way your bank card service works! This means that your Chipper Card balance is different from your Chipper Wallet balance.
Your Chipper UGX Card would need to be funded from your Chipper Wallet before it can be used.
On what platforms can I use my Chipper UGX Card?
The Chipper UGX Card is available for both Domestic and International transactions.
Please note that you can only use the card on merchant sites that fall under our approved/supported merchant categories. The list of supported and unsupported merchant categories may evolve over time. We reserve the right to modify the list to meet certain legal and regulatory obligations.
I have a problem with a Chipper UGX Card transaction. What do I do?
Do you have a complaint about your Chipper Card transaction? Please go to your Home tab and click on that transaction, then select "Report a Problem" to send us an automated message.
Also, please ensure that your Chipper Cash app is updated to the latest version for a more seamless experience.

What is my card Billing Address & Postal Code?
Please use your registered house address as your billing address. Also, use the postal/zip code of your registered house address.
My CVV still reads as 123. How do I change that?
Please fund your card first, then your default CVV (123) will change in 24 hours.
Once changed, you can use the new CVV as your security code for transactions on merchant sites.
Is the Chipper Virtual Card 3D secured?
Please note that all Chipper Virtual Cards have been programmed for 3D-secured authentication.

Would I be charged a fee if my Chipper UGX Card gets declined due to insufficient funds?
Yes, you will be charged a non-refundable UGX 1,000 fee for each UGX card transaction that fails due to insufficient funds.
To avoid this fee, kindly ensure that your Chipper UGX Card is always sufficiently funded in advance to cover all your one-time and recurring(subscription) online payments.
Is there a fee for withdrawing or adding funds to the Chipper UGX Card?
A 5% withdrawal fee will be charged in instances where a customer withdraws funds that they received via an external source (e.g. Visa Direct) into their Chipper card.
