If you are reading this, it means you are most likely yet to successfully verify your identity on Chipper Cash and unlock more features. Not to worry, we’re here to help you and get your account verified in no time.


Below are some possible reasons why your account verification was rejected or is yet to be verified. Please check the list and follow the steps to complete your verification successfully:

Quality of your ID Document:

It’s important that the words on your ID document are clear and that the image clearly shows your face. Here’s what you can do before you attempt another ID verification:

  • First, check the date on your ID document to be sure it’s not expired

  • Make sure the ID itself is clear and contains a very clear photo of you

  • Make sure all the edges of the document are showing and no part of the document is cut off or covered with your fingers

  • Check your lighting; if it’s too bright, part of the document might not be easy to read. If your environment is too dark, your document will have too many shadows.

  • Avoid using a flash to take a photo of the document. Use natural lighting if possible.

  • Take a photo of the original document, not a photocopy or an already captured/scanned photo of the ID

Too many ID submissions

You have four (4) chances to re-submit your verification if it is rejected. If you have exhausted your chances, please get in touch with [email protected] so that we can assist you.

Previous ID submission cancelled

Your previous submission may have been cancelled to allow you to resubmit a better-quality image. Please go to your profile and attempt to re-submit your ID document.

The Face on your ID document does not match your selfie

The photo on your ID must match the selfie you shared during verification. If, at the moment, the photo on your document is different from your current appearance, please visit your ID authority to request a renewal or reissue. After this, you can submit the updated document for verification.

Another tip that helps is to confirm the acceptable ID documents for your country and try to verify with an alternative ID. Please see the next paragraph for acceptable ID documents.

If your account verification is rejected, you may have submitted an ID we do not currently accept. Please check out the accepted IDs for your country:

  • Both BVN (Bank Verification Number) and NIN (National Identification Number) are compulsory for your initial account verification.

  • To claim a Virtual Card or invest in US Stocks, you can use any of these additional documents:
    - NIN slip
    - International passport (photo page only)
    - Driver's license

US

  • Residence permit (Green Card)

  • Passport card

  • Work permit

  • Service ID

  • National ID

  • Driver’s license

  • Passport (photo page only)

  • US Visas and Foreign Passports (for foreign nationals based in the USA)

Uganda

  • National ID

  • Passport (photo page only)

Ghana

  • National ID (Ghana/ECOWAS)

Rwanda

  • National ID

  • Foreign Passport

  • RW Foreign ID card

  • RW Refugee ID card
